Shiva trilogy by Amish

I happened to read a book titled The Immortals of Meluha, the first one of a 3 books series Shiva Trilogy, written by Amish. My first comment on this book – I was fortunate to get to read it.

The Immortals of Meluha by Amish

The Immortals of Meluha

When I started reading this book, it just looked like another one of those ordinary fictions. But as I continued reading, I began to feel why can’t this be a real story?!. I was impressed by how the author spun the web linking them at regular intervals. The author has kept the pace up throughout the book and it is difficult to stop reading it once you start it.
The author portrays Lord Shiva as an ordinary man, who uses his common sense and intelligence for good, struggling along with his tribe, near Manasaroovar lake, to protect his territories from the other local tribes. Shiva then comes to India following an invitation from people of Meluha (A state in India). He then goes on to gain respect and popularity mainly because of a prophecy that portrays him as the destroyer of evil, and of-course because of his intelligence and humility.
A lot of known mythological characters are brought in later in the story. Many known mythological facts have been intelligently used in the story. The story is not lacking in terms of twists and suspense. There are many hanging strings that get neatly tied as the story progresses.

The Secret of the Nagas by Amish

The Secret of the Nagas

Currently two of the books in the series have been released: The Immortals of Meluha and The secrets of the Nagas. Both the books are equally engrossing. The third book The Oath of the Vayuputras is scheduled for an early release by February 27th 2013, which is expected to reveal a big suspense.
My closing comments: This is an excellent series of books that is worth the read.
Thanks to Amish for bringing in this wonderful series and thanks to my friend Ganapathy Raman who presented this the first book to me (otherwise I would not have read it).
